The last 10 years

Highlights of the decade include the name change from the Australian Archives to the National Archives of Australia, the move to a national headquarters building in Canberra, establishing Public Programs and a new approach to managing a national collection.

Hilary Golder is a public historian with a particular interest in legal and administrative history. Her publications include Documenting a Nation: Australian Archives – The First Fifty Years (1994), From Parchments to Passwords: A History of the Land Titles Office of NSW (1995) and Sacked: Removing and Remaking the Sydney City Council, 1853–1988 (2004). She served for two terms on the board of the State Records Authority of New South Wales and has completed a history of government administration in colonial New South Wales, commissioned by State Records New South Wales.
